What language to use....?

I want to write a desktop programme which will automatically crawl and save certain webpages for me on the internet.I want to ask in which programming should I write this kind of software.I want to run this software from my desktop computer and not on my website server.So in what language do I write...?

Two of the most prominent languages our there would be c++ and java, and these languages will have much more resources on the internet that can help you (tutorials, code snippets, existing source code for programs, etc). Although what you are wanting to do will take some time to do, if you don't have any programming experience you should expect several hundred (if not thousands, depending on your learning curve) of hours just to acquaint yourself with the language enough to write a program.

c++ probably for a desktop app. you could make it web based with a perl script or php. Are you looking for something like offline browser? google that

Only problems with using perl of php is you would need to either have webhosting, or your computer setup as a web server.

well its this thing called the internet, and one called firefox which you click and say add bookmark, or in IE you click and choose add to favourites.
