Mouse pads really matters. I have tried playing without using a mouse pad and I can't really aim correctly.
Even though I use an ptical mouse, I always tend to use mouse pads. I think I can't use the pc without a mouse pad.

i dug a whole into my desk before when I used to not use mousepads. Now I do. No more wood digging with my palm :P

depends how crappy your mousepad is, if its really bad a good mousepad can help a lot

I have an Icemat, now called steel series i2 or i1. I really love it, but if I had to choose between a decent gaming mouse and a glass pad I'd choose the mouse.

I like mouse pads I just don't feel like paying so much for one and the cheap ones I do buy usually get caught on my mouse I don't really mind playing without one though.
