Default Does re-starting a server REALLY help prevent Lag issues?

I re-start My clan's server everyday, but I was wondering if it really has any effect on issues such as lagging?

It can yes. Has to do with log length, or maybe a few settings got changed. Maybe that afk player is taking resources away from others. There's more to it but yes a simple restart can help.

It helps prevent empty packets which can cause lag issues.

If you have a dedicated server on your actual computer, you should restart your entire computer. If it's with a hosting company such as CS.com, most have periodic restarts of their server boxes.

Red face Re: Does re-starting a server REALLY help prevent Lag issues?

Lag can be caused by so many things. Restarting isn't always going to fix your problem.

DOS attacks, bad cocktail of plugins, extra writing to the HD and so on, can cause lag.
