No0b Questions before buying a server

Hey everyone, ive been wanting to buy a server for a while now...but i dont really know much about it...lol i checked out some guide but i still dont get much of it.
If say i buy a CSS server how will i go about starting it up? E.g will there be some files i put in my css folder or something of that sort?
How will i add maps/mods and other things to my server?
how will i talk in the game even thought im not actually in the game i heard something about plesk control panel?
How will i add/remove privellages?
How will i restart/stop/start server?
is there some kind of FTP program or anything i will have to download?

basically after i purchase a server what do i do lol

Hi Sal,

Counter-strike.com actually installs the entire server for you! I know, that's awesome.

The only thing you'd have to install are whatever mods you want on it (like Mani, AMX, Admin-Mod, etc). All the mods are done through a Control Panel which contains folders, etc. They basically make it extremely easy to use (even for someone that's new to owning a server). However, they also give full FTP access in case that you know a little bit more about servers.

To chat with people from a console, you'd have to get something called HLSW. It's completely free and downloaded separately. The only thing you need for it is to know your rcon password (which you setup when you name your server, etc). To add and remove privileges, you can just use Mani mod and change adminlist.txt or clients.txt. To restart/stop/start server, they have a button which you can click on your Control Panel once you have logged into it on this site.

To use FTP (which again, you do not have to since they provide an easy-to-use Control Panel), you can download Firefox or any other FTP program (but I highly recommend using their Control Panel if you're new to owning servers).

After you purchase a server, an email confirmation will be sent to you. After that, you can expect your server to be up in a matter of minutes then you can log into the Control Panel and start installing whatever mod you want on it (they also provide a button which you basically only have to click a few things to install Mani and some sounds pack, etc).

Another thing, they DO help you install mods as well, according to the FAQ's. All you'd have to do is open a support ticket (they have 24/7 Customer Service):

A: Most of the popular mods we have in our mods section you can install yourself with the click of a button inside CS Admin. If the mod is not available in the control panel preconfigured for you to install, simply open a support ticket and one of our experienced support specialists can install the mod for you or help you install it.
