so i want to buy a server

So i want to buy a server from counter-strike.com. i want a website with it, my friend said that when u buy from here they only set u up with a Freewebs.com - Free website, free hosting, free webpage - Make a web site with photo albums, blogs, videos, forums and more! site, that seems pretty shitty and u have to pay for it.

is this true? if not what is the web host provider for the website they set u up with?

Hmmm, never looked into this, as I have a paid site not from a free host, but all the hosts use a free web site host. So no matter where you go you'll get the same site. If you want more options on the site then you'll pay for it. Most likeily the site is thru clansites.com or has the hosts url in it, so serverhost.clanname.com or serverhost.com/clanname or some other setup.

From what CS.coms site says there isn't a free site with a server rental, you can "buy" a site at the $9.95 a month. I would suggest you just hit a real site host, you'll get much more options. Even the free sites you get from a host will not allow for psychostats or fast download. If you get a real site you can have some ports open, or get a dedicated ip and have the ones you need open.

I'm sure a CS.com employee will tell you their details. All I can tell you is what you described is what you'll get at other hosts. I had two other hosts and their sites were the free cheap sites with no options. I had a real site before coming here so I never looked into a free site.

Well, anything that's free or comes along with things will usually be well... cheap. Quality costs money.

If you buy a server from CS.com, I think you just buy the server. I don't think they have the obligation of setting up a website along with it if you only pay for the server. I don't know, it just doesn't seem to me like it would be fair for them to have to set you up with a site too without you paying for that also.

You may want to look into clansites.com. I know some clans that use it and their site looks great.

You can purchase hosting from 1&1 Internet Inc. - Web Hosting Services and Domain Name Registration. That is the cheapest one I have ever been able to find.

I use BlueHost with an added dedicated IP. Great upload and download speeds for adding your maps. The dedicated ip makes it so you don't have to call up and ask for a port to be opened. Some hosts require you to buy the dedicated ip as opening ports is a security risk for other clients on the same ip.
