How about ancient Roman-style arena type maps? I'm doing one now, and will be a Bomb Defusion map, especially with having a lot of sniping opportunities, since the Terrorists have to start on the bottom floor, and work their way up two stories to reach the bomb sites on the balconies, and the CTs are on the top floor, and after a while, they can actually snipe down on them. Ahh yeah. Can't wait to finish this bad boy up! I'd suggest you try doing a map like that.

Okay, here we go... How about bringing back maps from ages past for games that you grew up with? For me, for example, I'm bringing back Wolfenstein 3D's first map, E1L1, which of course, is pretty darn familiar to those who grew up with FPS games under the id Software label. It's a popular choice, imo, not too tough of a map to put together, allows for some good gameplay for CT and T Spawns, and it can make a real good hostage rescue map, imo. It's a good beginner map to build, as well as reviving an old relic with newer technology. I'd go for it.

Yeah, especially coming from someone who's biggest forte was building capture the flag maps back during the Quake era. After all, I built a nice Wolf 3D-themed CTF map back then, and CS: S will probably make hostage rescue in a map like that even better. Of course, I never ported that map to RtCW, which was a blind move. I only wish that GTK Radiant would've been as easy to use as Hammer is, tho.
