Well there's plenty of great textures and making them is easy as heck, you'll need paint or photochop and VTFEdit. After that add it to your texture files and edit the VMF file so it has the right directions. It's pretty nice when you find the right image to use as a texture.

Right. I got it... As for uploading remakes from scratch, I'm quite sure that it's best to build a map right from Hammer. I mean, even tho Quake maps would import seamlessly, chances are, whether Hammer would let you retexture with the stock CS:S textures, that's another thing. On top of that, a bunch of the entities are far different between the two, so I'd better hope that'll move over well.
At least I dug through the attic to find the actual grid paper that I wrote the map on, so I'll even rebuild it based on that. Hard to believe that I even did this map as early as Doom 2 already, but ever since Quake added that third-dimension to mapping, I've been doing this map for that ever since. HL2 and CS will even bring this to an even better dimension. |

Okay, just uploaded another map to the site, be on the lookout for cs_temple. Here's a sample screenshot from the hostage/terrorist spawn point:
![]() ![]() ...and yes, this is a remake from that Doom II/Quake map that I built 10 - 15 years ago, as much as I remembered it. However, instead of the "Temple of Gloom" from the days from those games, this takes place in a more modern setting, during World War II, as a prison camp occupied by the Germans, and you need to rescue the prisoners of war. Needless to say, I would've built this for RTCW, but felt that CS:S had a better community. |

Yes you can, but you might want to name one differently so people know if it's for CS:S or CZ. Just an idea.

Ahh, okay... Thanks. For CS:S, I named it cs_temple, and for CZ, I named it cs_arena. Should pretty much be about the same map with the same style of gameplay. Of course, the CS:S version (cs_temple) is probably going to be the fancier one with more realism to it. The real name for it follows as "Battle Arena: Temple of Gloom" which maintains the old Quake name for the map. So both filenames fit that...
