Map Issue

Can anybody help me through a extremely annoying problem I am having with Hammer? Let me start off by saying that the last two maps I have actually spent time making have failed to work. I first made a map that I assumed would just work because I am not an idiot when it comes to hammer. (maybe I lost my touch) So yeah the first map didn't work so I just made a lame map really fast and it worked, woo. So I say screw the first map and make a third map, this time taking a little more time than I did the first. To my surprise the third map does not work. I compiled and saved and when I get into css to wait for the level to load, my cursor just sits there and blinks. Then I try to manually load the level and it automatically takes me back to the main screen of css. If you can help me to try and figure out this problem it would be greatly appreciated, for I have lost my patients and don't plan on bothering with the editor any longer until this is worked out. thanks in advance.

well u can seach "css mapping tortuial" at youtube.com there very good on how to make maps using hammer and there is like 11 total that u can watch and he does all the stuff that u need to know to make maps and pretty much all the stuff u can do with valve hammer

This kind of stuff often happens with me. I think its cos the computer just can't cope.

most of the time you can just leave it and after a couple of days it starts working.

The last time hammer ****ed up i waited two days and it automatically de-fragmented itself. After that it worked fine. and for about 2 days now its been fine (touch wood...).

what im trying to say is that hammer usally sorts itself out. leave it a couple of days (or weeks) and hopefully it will work.

if not, just re-install hammer. failing that, re-install steam.
