Ok, make sure you didn't tie your walls to func_detail. select the wall(s) that are grouped and then right click to get your menu, select "bring to world". That will make them brushes as well as ungroup them.

OR

You might have also grouped them more than once, just select the walls and hit ctrl + u and hold it for a few seconds. This will ungroup them, as long as the issue wasn't that you tied them to func_detail, or any other entity type.

Ladders = material "tools/ladder" in the filter <--- make sure you use that, not the trigger material. It should say ladder on it, you'll also have to tie it to func_ladder, hit ctrl + t and change the drop down menu from func_detail to func_ladder.

Doors: I make a brush with the door size I want, 112 tall x 56 wide x 18 deep (I make my wall 16 thick so you can't shoot thru them, helps a lot on zombie maps for barricades). 18 units so you can center it in the wall depth wise and see it so placement is easier. Then make that brush selected, go to the windows with the graphs (x,y,z) and right click over the selected brush, select "carve". This might cause the materials to shift OR the entire brush to be deleted.
