Question Lighting issues

Hey, I'm a beginner at mapping, and am looking for some assistance.

When the player moves into a darker area (lighting from light_environment) shiny/transparent parts of the player appear to be glowing. This is the same for glass and some other models. Eg.

I was wondering what could cause this issue? The issue seems to go away when I remove light_environment

light_environment settings are:

Pitch-Yaw-Roll: 0-0-0
Pitch: 0
Brightness:255 255 255 200
Ambient: 255 255 255 20
BrightnessHDR: -1 -1 -1 1
BrightnessScaleHDR: 1
AmbientHDR: -1 -1 -1 1
AmbientScaleHDR: 1
SunSpreadAngle: 5

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This can be normal. What mod is this for, and are you using HDR?

Well, happens both on HDR and non HDR. I'm doing this in Counter Strike Source. No mod.

Anytime, though... I feel a little hard done by that I'm not getting a little bit of a cash incentive from this.

You should really set the brightness of the environment lighting to a ratio that coincides with the size of the room. Like if your map is 4096x4096x2048, consider a 255 255 255 4000 brightness level for that size, for example. At least that's what I did. Just like a 2048x2048x1024 map would be a 255 255 255 2000 setting, and so on, so forth.
