Possible scam?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just want to play it safe.

I was offered admin on a server today, and the guy says he needs my steam login/pass. I was looking around at the mani website and trying to find more info, but I'm not really sure where to look. Hopefully someone here can help me. Here's what he had to say:

him: ok what is your steam login/pass
...
him: it needs to be written to the cfg file so when you log on it automatically gets you admin
...
me: does it have to be my steam username/password, or can it be some other pass that's the same in the MANI setup and in my .cfg file?
him: steam
him: you can change you pass after i restart the server
him: we used to be able to use steam ID's but the new steam update yesterday messed it all up

I sort of gleaned the impression by reading some of the mani documentation from the website that steamID/password was one option for setting up remote admin, but that there should be other ways of doing it. Can anyone help me out with this?

I was going to ask on the MANI forums, but it won't let me register... every name I try to put in, including some really, really weird/random stuff says it's already in use. So, here I am. Thanks a bunch!

Scam...All he needs is steam ID which he can get himself by writing status....Nothing else is needed

Yeah, there is no circumstance that you will ever need to reveal your steam login name/password unless it is to actually login to steam. The steam support staff wont even ask you for it
