CS Source Freezes up!! HELP!

First of all I'm a huge Counter-strike fan! Love this game! But recently when I put a new internal hard drive inside my Hp Pavillion ZD8000 laptop (Radeon x600 video card with 2 gig's RAM). Now Counter-Strike freezes up on me, I've installed framework 2.0, I've updated all to be updated on Windows update. The game works fine for about 5 mins then freezes.. now it freezes right away.
I can't seem to be able to find any newer driver for my video card that will work. I've even tryed a OMEGA driver, still nothing works. I used to be able to play this game fine before I formatted. Can anyone please help me get this issue fixed? I wanna kill some terrorists in CS!!!!

Bet that new HDD heats up a faster and gets a lot hotter. That causes the vid card and/or processor to over heat and thus causing the problem.

I don't think it's a heat problem, my laptop played this game for years. All I did recently was buy and install a new internal 160 gig hard drive and I doubled my RAM from 1 gig to 2 gig. I just downloaded the latest DirectX, try it out, loaded fine... played for about 4 rounds then froze again. Only way out is holding power button I also turned sound from High to medium...

Just a thought, this same error happened when my vid card got too hot. Bigger HDD = more heat.

Well to be honest my laptop has always had heat issues, I have a Honeywell 12" fan blowing accross it at all times, or else it just shuts off in a bout 5 minutes...

Could the more RAM be the problem? Should I try putting back the two 512MB sticks?

Well you need to look up what the max and type ram you can use. Then decide. I've never heard of too much ram.

I FIXED IT!

I went to Hp's website and entered my Product number, and updated my video driver.
Now my good friend tells me I should un-install my old drivers before installing new ones.
I have been, and no new drivers will install. Always gotta do a system restore to get my original drivers back. This time I just installed the new update (Driver) without deleting the old one first and it works great now! Counter-strike does not freeze on me anymore!

YAY!

I also have a 12" Honeywell fan blowing on my laptop, turned my fan from low to high.
Cause these laptop's are prone to heat issues.

Either way my computer plays CS:Source now! YAY!
