Problem with 1.6

Game crashes and just vanishes from view whenever I try to join a server, it'll download the necessary .mdl's or .wav's to be able to play on the server etc, but when I get to the part where it's done caching resource and it's time to pick a team, before I can even see it the game just closes and it's gone.

I also have an issue with audio, the clicks whenever you roll over the options on the main menu like Find server or something like that sound REALLY bad, the audio WAS on low at first I put it on High and nothing changed so I'm just a little confused as to what to do.

Does this happen with all servers? Also check you hardware manager for uninstalled/bad audio and video drivers.

Well I'm fairly certain the audio/video drivers are alright, because I play WoW just fine and nothing else has poor audio quality, just 1.6.

So it's all 1.6 servers? How about other H-L mods, 1.6, HL, HL2? I would hit the Steam site and look up Codec updates and new codecs since a few new ones have come out in the past year to 6 months.
