Question The CS server "menu"

When you log on to a server to play you get first up a picture or text that introduces the clan or the server owner and sponsor. I need information on how to change that. If I want to put a picture with info, how big should it be (wide / long / resolution)? Where do I put the file or edit the information?

I hope someone knows what I am talking about.

Thanks in advance

This is called the "MOTD." To edit it, locate MOTD.txt (in the "cstrike/" directory)

The size of an MOTD is based on a user's screen resolution. If you figure that the minimum resolution any user would be playing on is 800x600, you can guess and check as to what size your MOTD would be (without having scroll bars)--probably around 750x500 is a good size. The MOTD is basically a web page in HTML format.

note that if you embed a website in the motd, some people using your server will have the bug of their mouse-arrow popping up randomly ingame

any other text-editing in the motd is up to the admin's fantasy

Ok, I have now made a .jpg that works fine with 800x600 resolution. What about those that use any other resolutions? Is there anything I can do so that it adjusts for the res each player is using?
Or should I just make a html page with background and stuff? Is that easier?

You can center the image so that anyone with a larger screen resolution will just have space on both sides of the image. You can also make a background color of your choice. To center something, put center tags around it:

Quote:
<center>
<img src="http://image.jpg">
</center>
To change the color of your background, you just need to put "bgcolor" in your opening body tag. Here, I have set my background color to black:

Quote:
<body bgcolor="black">
</body>
To specify colors, you can use words, like "black" and "white," or hexadecimal codes for more specific colors.

Example of a hexadecimal code:

Quote:
<body bgcolor="#66CCFF"
</body>
