Source : Problems with instal - please help

Hi,

I just bought Source 2 days ago (the version that comes with Half-Life 2 + Day of defeat, if it makes any difference) and I can't get the game to finish it's instal - it ALWAYS freezes.

For some weird reason my auto-run doesn't work either, so I have to start it from My Computer. I follow all the intruction properly and Disc 1 always goes thourgh fine. It will freeze with Disc2 90% of the time - and my cd drive has only seen Disc3 once..

I've uninstalled Steam 3 times and to start fresh, yet it does nothing. I've done some searches, and found some freezing problems, but only during gameplay - never during install. If there's a thread that covers my issue, please PM me it or wtv, I just want to start playing ASAP!

weird. is ur disc scratched? if not, send it back to the store you bought it from and get a new copy of the disc. there may be something wrong with it. oorrr, it may be an internal cpu problem, in which i can not help ya there.

All the discs are MINT. I was thinking about returning it aswell.. maybe a deffective batch of CDs? I'm really stumped though, cuz the computer runs fine - no bugs or viruses whatsoever.. I guess I'll keep trying until tomorow.. :S

Perhaps you don't have enough free disk space on your hard drive?

perhaps that is the case!

to check ur disk space, go to my computer and right click on your main hard drive and then click properties. you should end up with some sort of pie graph that shows u how much memory you have...

Nah.. I freed up a lot of space not too long ago (100GB left). I really don't get it..

I've never bought a hard copy before; can you use your CD Key to download the game through Steam?
