Resolution Help

i changed the resolution in the game, and it wasnt the correct size..now whenever i start the game its just a black screen, but i can here the clicking in the menu. How can i change the resolution back

Start up Steam > My Games > Counter-Strike > right-click and hit Properties > Launch Options > and then type -window. Hit ok and start the game. It should launch in a window, then change the resolution and also change the drop down from "Window" to Full Screen. Apply and you should be good.

tried it doesnt work. im gonna reinstall steam and cs i guess.

ive tried this and if ur gettin a black screen best thing to do is and ive been playin with this try goin to ur display settings for ur desktop change the resolution to the biggest u got and then open steam and CSS and it usually works sometimes u might have to close out of CSS and steam open back up after u change ur resolution on ur desktop again.. try that before reinstalling..

ur video card or display card which ever u would like to call it..but u have to drop the resolution to like 800x720.. last resolution setting, and then reload CSS and it should come up might take a few times to do this but each time u have to close out CSS and reload it. also u might want to try, after u close CSS to higher ur resolution and then lower it again. then u can chage the resolution on CSS to what u think is best suited for ur display card..

Are you still having this problem?

This happened to my friend Kris. He wanted a higher res, and went to 1280x1024, but his montior/gpu did not support that size, and his screen went black also.

I told him to change his launch options:

-Right click "Counter-Strike" ( Or whatever CS version you're having trouble with )
-Click "Properties"
-Click "Launch Options"

paste this in, without quotes:

"-w 800 -h 600"

This will set your game to launch at 800x600. After that, you can remove that from your launch options, and set the resolution to the appropriate size.

Eh... Now that I look at the date you posted, I'm sure you've re-installed or fixed it otherwise... Let me know.
