help with my fps and ping

Hey guys,
M new to online gaming so i dont know much bt it. my fps and ping is horrible. i hv posted the info of the config i get while gaming below. and also my system configuration. pleae help me with it


fps: 9
ping: 300
in: 201 15.25k/s 98.6/s
out: 88 070k/s 8.6/s
loss: 0 choke: 17

this is more or less the average of what i get

This is the info i collected from my nero tool.

Operating System : Windows XP Professional (5.01.2600 Service Pack 2)
DirectX : DirectX 9.0c
Intel P4 2.8 GHz
1024MB RAM
Graphic Card: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Graphic Driver: Intel Corporation 6.14.10.4396

I am on a lousy 256/64 kbps line.

You have Intrigated Graphics and internet 5 times the speed of dialup......I doubt you are going to do much better One thing would be to disconnect all P2P programs.....(ie) messenger, torrents of any sort Basicly anything that is using any of your connection. As for your frame rates there isn't much you can do i believe you have a 128meg intrigated vid card....i would suggest spending a little coin and getting a low grade geforce 6 or 7 series or better if you can afford it.

I have enter a code so I could get my ping down but it get so low that when I play whit many people then I also lag whit little ping please help

I don't exactly understand what you mean! Explain it a littler better please. You entered a code??? What code and what is it suposed to do. Make sure when your playing CSS that all other P2P programs are off like msn or anything eles that is using the internet. Set all your video settings to low. Please explain this code to me!

EDIT: OK if you are still lagging even with a low ping it is because your vid card is crap....No offence...intrigated video cards blow...there usless and you will lag untill you get a better video card. Find out if ur mobo has PCI-E or AGP and start saving for a video card. You don't need top of the line for CSS just a decent one (look for Gforce 7600GS or something Similar from ATI)

all it is, is something you type in the concole, and what it does it changes the numbers. ex: say your ping is 200ms, and the w.e it is limit for the server your on, is 120ms, you will get kicked. since your ping is over the limit, you type the code in, and it will trick the system by changeing the ping ms lower, so that it recognises the code, not the actualy ping. so again if your ping is 200, you type in the code to make IT SEEM lower, you wont get kicked for breaking the limit, when actualy you are. I wouldnt do this just because, youll still lag like a ***** in the server, and they'll kick you anyway. lol

and yea, if i were you just save up for an Nvidia card, dont go with ATI, because they've been known to have problems. especialy if your running vista. but anyway, like Jebus said, you dont need a top of the line graphics card, but a 76 7800 Nvidia would be the way to go. Your internet should be fine to run source, but just close down any apps such as messenger, even itunes or anything like that, that slows your comp and/or internet conn down.
