I haven't played cs in years. I have the original half-life disk from 2000. I installed it but don't remember how to get it working. I think I have to download some sort of update, but which one?

which cs? cs1.6? or cs:s? and which half-life? the 1st? or 2nd?

Half-Life 1, and counter-strike. (He said back in 2000, and cz and hl2 didn't exist then).

Download steam from Welcome to Steam and it will have you register and enter your cd-key. It will then automatically download the updates. (The latest version is 1.6), you might be able to find a 1.5 patch out there that doesn't require steam, but anything newer then that will require steam.
