I'm trying to set up my software on a new MacBook Pro laptop, and I've been beating my brains out trying to figure out how to set up virtual hosts. I finally hired someone to set up Apache, PHP and MySQL, along with a virtual host that I could then use as a guide in setting up additional virtual hosts. But when I tried to follow his instructions, I hit a brick wall.
Finally, someone advised me to forget about using Terminal, as it's too complex. Instead, they suggested I just open httpd.conf with a text editor. Sounds great - that's the way I do it on my PC. But now I can't locate the httpd.conf file. If I try to access it with Terminal, it pops right up. But if I type "httpd.conf" into Spotlight, it shows several httpd.conf files, none of which is the one I'm looking for. I navigated to each of file and renamed it. Now when I type "httpd.conf" into Spotlight, it returns 0 files with that name. But I can still open it with Terminal. So what's the magic trick for finding the location of httpd.conf? Thanks. |

Thanks. I typed "etc" into Spotlight and found about a dozen folders. I opened every one and didn't find a folder named httpd or a file named httpd.conf. Could this file be "invisible," just as files are sometimes hidden on a PC?
Thanks. |
