Default video card question

My husband uses a Dell Dimension 4700 to play Counter-Strike 1.6. (Yeah, it's old, but until he gets better, no need for major improvement here...lol)

Anyway, please recommend an NVIDIA card that is compatible with this older hardware, so he can at least get decent graphics, "to enable him to play better"....

Almost any 256MB video card will help out: doesn't matter the price.

I'd prefer not to have to pay anything over $150.

A good video card for playing Counter-Strike 1.6 actually costs less than 100$. An example, EVGA's eGeforce 9600 SC Edition. In NewEgg it looks like unavailable, but if you can find a trusted source, buy it.

Ati makes great cards as well. The biggest issue I have with Nvidia cards is in order to use the SLI you have to have the Nvidia chip sets, north and south. ATI's Crossfire can use any chip sets, so basically Nvidia just limited their business, VERY BAD!

Make sure you know what you ave before you go order anything, so places have high restock fees and you don't want to lose your money over a mistake.

I agree this is probably the best for your money, I'd check NCIX before newegg though
