It's best to download a map from a trusted website with your web browser instead of downloading new maps from inside your Steam/Counter strike client, because a server could potentially be serving you infected files.

I'm still waiting to get my DSL activated tomorrow, what maps comes with CS:S anyway? I bought CS:S from walmart and it came with DOD:S and Half life Deathmatch, am I going to need to download new maps and everything?

You mean if I went to a site like "freecounterstrikemaps" .com and downloaded "map3" it could potentially be a virus if the web site is shady?

before downloading use a free file virus scan site if its from like mediafire.com or rapidshare etc

Not if your server is hosted by a massive company a virus would have to be passed through an IP
