New Server

Alright, I have recently bought a Counter-Strike: Source server. It's a normal CSS server, not gun game, zombie mod, or any of those other mods. It's also NOT a clan server.

Thing is, I don't know what maps to add in order to attract people into the server. I had about 22 maps installed and running, but I narrowed it down to about 5 or 6, though no one is ever on the server. Here is a list of the maps I currently run on the server:

One of my ideas were to create a 24/7 server of a certain map. At first, I was thinking rats maps in general, but I did that before with a server and no one ever joined, also.. it doesn't seem like rats maps are popular in CSS.

I was also going for the idea of 24/7 office07 or 24/7 westwood_07, though I'm not sure about the idea.

So, I'm asking if you could help me out by letting me know how I should setup the server so it can attract a lot of people to join.

You can tell me to have it a 24/7 server of a certain map or maps, or let me know what other maps to add or which maps to take out.

people like surf maps. aim maps are also very popular. advice: put a couple bots in 2 or 4 to make it look like people are in your server. tehn, people will see its not empty, then join. it will become more and more full, as people continue to join.

Yah, people do like surf maps but they get boring, and I don't find them that amusing. Tried the bot idea. Added 4 bots, but as soon as I leave the server the bots disappear. They only appear when someone joins.

As for Proggie, gee thanks for the help. I'll try and find the map called "sweet" but I don't think it exists.

Damn man, I hate this. No one goes to my server and I don't know what maps to put in! Ahh, just don't know what to do =/

By the way Hunter, in your signature it says "ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A CLAH?" I think you misspelled clan. =P

to keep the bots in your server, you ahve to put bot_join_after_player 0 this will keep them in your server even if no one is in it.


btw, i didnt spell "clan" wrong. it was too small, and it looked like an "h" its bigger now.

To be honest mate I don't think you are going to have much luck making your server ag_rats 24/7... if you want to attract people by making a 24/7 map server I'd go for one of the official maps but something lesser played like train, compound or militia as the dust, dust2, office servers are generally covered for 24/7 servers. Assault 24/7 servers seem to be quite popular with a certain kind of player as well.
