Well the other day after watching the History Channels great show dogfights, I went to the website to see if I could find any cool vids. Well I discovered there is a Dogfights video game, from kuma games. From looking at the vids I though it looked pretty crappy but decided to give it a try.
After about 45 min of downloading I realized it was a pretty large game. So I jump in a server and quickly notice the VERY familar interface. They are using the source engine, but not the steam validation system. After messing around with the gui I found a command line way to force source to use hardware DX 9.1 and it looked and played much better. After going through several crappy servers with horrible tick rate and settings, I again decided to take matters into my own hands. I created My own Dogfights server and even installed mani mod on the server (which really doesnt work since it uses stteam ids for auth, but i though it was cool anyway that I got it to work) and fired up a 100 tick 250 fps dog fights server. The point of this story is, there is now a Dog fights server called Test Dogfight Server. You can find it if you download the game and then connect using ther crappy server list and sort by name (cant even sort by ip or ping). However if you join this way you will have the crappy software redering. So I suggest you start up the game (after you install it ) by doing this. Open up a cmd window and type this in C:\Program Files\Kuma Games>kuma -game dogfightsmp -dxlevel 91 Once it loads up just change the screen res, and your settings as you see fit and then add this ip to your server fav 72.249.10.131:27015 Its not bad for a free game. Anyone that goes and plays the game let me know how it runs and how you like the game in general. I am always interested in other source base games. George McNeill Counter-Strike.com |
