Major server lag, latancy/pings

computer specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Duel Core 4200+ Processor
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 GT Graphics

I have a Internet Upload speed of about 900kb/s-950kb/s



The computer I run the server on is my main computer I use all day and play on the server with aswell, and while im playing on the server my latency is always around 5-13 which im not sure if thats bad or not but being on the same computer hosting the server must be why but anyways to the problem. I can restart my computer and have nothing running but the server and the game and be on the server and play alone just fine, when ppl join everything is still fine and the server runs pretty smooth but when certain ppl like I have a friend and when he joins everyones latency's bounce around from 300-900 and the server isn't playable and if the person who just joined and is making the server lag stays in the server it will just stay that way, but once they leave things slowly get better and back to normal.


so I can have like 8 ppl playing on the server and things will be fine but it only takes 1 person with that problem to join the server and everyones latency's go crazy and like if you try and walk strait you go side to side or backwards and stuff, can anyone explain why this is or mainly how i can fix this. the server has no other problems and this is a major one. I cant figure out why only certain people who join makes the server lag so bad i mean if it was just there latency then they would be auto kicked but they can even stay in spec and the server just lags like crazy. And a couple times it has just done that anyways, we will all be playing and out of no where all our latency's go sky high and i have to restart the server.

Is there any reason why i cant get help? Ive posted similar posts on other forums and Ive gotten faster responces.... and this is the games own forum....... can someone plz help me with this.

Well waiting 2 hours isn't slow and most of us are sleeping in the US, it's almost 4 am here.

It sounds like you don't have enough bandwidth. 900kbps isn't much, I have 10 times that and I have a very hard time running a server, though it's been some time since I have tried. Just wait, the people that run home servers will be up sometime soon.

hmm ok, and no I didn't wait an hour, I waited a complete day I waited like 11 hours lool was only an hour from when I posted it up the day before.... but ok hopefully ppl with home servers will be able to help me.
