Source with Vista

ok,i have played CS1.5 a lot, but now i have got Vista and bought Source.When i install Steam(Source) and try playing the game it says the game needs update.i tried updating and it kept holding at 89% for a few hours.And it also says that i cant play offline,because of the same reason.(needed update)
Any help will be great!!!!!

in my experience, cs:s + vista = fail. it lags too much, and I had 5 gigs of ram!

CSS is not compatible with Vista, CSS is only made and was only made for Windows XP

Unless the company who made CSS updates CSS.

All Steam games have issues with SOME computers running Vista. It does NOT affect ALL Vista users, just SOME. Steam is not releasing a fix any time soon as there is a very small amount of users affected by the issue. The best thing to do is downgrade to XP. If you can not afford that then you'll be waiting some time to play, up to or longer than a year.
