I downloaded CS:S on my father's computer yesterday, and started playing it. However, I was getting this weird lag. It was like I was only seeing 1/3 of the frames that I should be seeing, so everything was erratic and jumpy, but it was constant. When I consulted my friend, he confirmed my fear, it was graphics lag.
So I ran dxdiag and found out what graphics card I have, and went to the company's webpage to download the newest driver for my card. The problem hasn't changed. So here I am. I will list the specs that dxdiag says, and if ANY of you can help me figure out where the problem area is, I would be very grateful. Here goes: Time of this report: 7/25/2007, 14:06:16 Machine name: BOB Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: GATEWAY System Model: T5020 BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz Memory: 1014MB RAM Page File: 467MB used, 1972MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Card name: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Chip type: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset DAC type: Internal Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2582&SUBSYS_4040107B&REV_04 Display Memory: 64.0 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 960 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200 Driver Name: igxprd32.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4764 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 1/13/2007 10:33:00, 57344 bytes WHQL Logo'd: Yes WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: n/a Mini VDD: igxpmp32.sys Mini VDD Date: 1/13/2007 10:33:18, 5672032 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B78E66-66C2-11CF-5761-4A60A5C2CB35} Vendor ID: 0x8086 Device ID: 0x2582 SubSys ID: 0x4040107B Revision ID: 0x0004 Revision ID: 0x0004 Video Accel: Deinterlace Caps: n/a Registry: OK DDraw Status: Enabled D3D Status: Enabled AGP Status: Not Available DDraw Test Result: Not run D3D7 Test Result: Not run D3D8 Test Result: Not run D3D9 Test Result: Not run If you can help me out, please do so. |

Your dads computer doesn't meed the minimum requirement of counter-strike source. You need to upgrade from an integrated graphics card to an actual one. You can pick one up good enough to run CS:S on a site like newegg.com for probably $50-100.

Your system needs the requirements of WoW. If its just lag with CSS, then its your computer. If all the sudden everything is laggy it could have been a problem with a driver update.
