Can i use the Counter-Strike Source account on Counter-Strike 1.6?

no, you need a origional counter-strike key. If you purchased the game in a box set that came with the origional half life as well as half life two, then you might not need it.

Buy Steam, then you can buy the games they have on offer

I think you can get the lot for $80.
