Running Counter Strike on Vista 64?

Just tried to play Counter strike: Condition Zero - exact same problem there...dirty graphics + LAG!! am very confused. Counter strike: Source works perfectly :S

try right clicking hl.exe, doing the set priority and also right click again and select SET AFINITY and uncheck CPU 0 but leave CPU 1 that should help alittle

for the rest, if you want a clean gaming experience,you are going to have to sacrifice some animations

also another thing that may help is downgrading DirectX10 to DX9 i have heard that that help a ton,

here is for CS:S veenoh
1 - r_3dsky 0 (takes away the 3d sky)
2 - r_shadows 0 (takes away the shadows)
3 - cl_show_splashes 0 (removes splashes from the water)
4 - r_drawrain 0 (removes the rain)
5 - r_decals 0 (removes bullet marks)
6 - cl_ejectbrass 0 (stops bullet sheels ejecting)
7 - cl_show_bloodspray 0 (no blood spray)
8 - Got your own tweak that works? Post it in the channel and ask for it to be added!
9 - gl_clear 1 (disables the some what buggy sky)
10 - r_dynamic 0 (removes dynamic lights)
11 - fog_enable 0 (removes the fog)

CS dont run on x64-based systems,, that might be it..
Atleast that's the message i got from cs when i tried.

have Phenom II X4 , ati 4870 1 gb and 6 gb ram . i put vista ultimate 64bit. my CS crashes on the MOTD screen when i connect to any server.

i have tried the compatibility mode. the hw.dll replacement. still no help .

Plz does any 1 have any other ideas ?

my issue got resolved . do u guys have internet download manager installed on ur comp ? if yes .. shut iemonitor from task manager . cs works fine after tht !
