How well will counter-strike 1.6 run with the recommended requirements?

My computer fits the recommended requirements exactly except for 900MHz processor instead of
800MHz, and a faster CD drive. I don't know if I should get counter strike 1.6 or not because it would be a waste if it lagged. please tell me how well counter strike should run on my computer and what settings I could turn down. I heard that turning off virus protection helps but it soulds sort of risky.

Thanks, can't wait to get the game. lol just one more question though, where do I get the game? I think you have to get it on steam or something, is there any other way to get it, like a patch for half life or something, and where do I find it? Will some versions run faster than other?
