Wierd Ping issue

I recently started playing CS 1.6 and for some reason my ping is never below 150. I'm finding it very odd because in Battlefield 2 my ping is a good 30-50. Everytime I play CS it kicks me out of the server for high ping but I don't know why. My computer specs shouldn't be an issue because they're fine:

Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz
320 GB HDD
3 GB DDR2 RAM
XFX nVidia 8600 GT 256 MB DDR2 XXX Edition
Creative Suundblaster Audigy 2

I don't know why I'm having problems. I can run Battlefield 2 on the highest graphics and still have no lag but CS is giving me a hard time. I was hoping that someone could help me either fix the problem or hep me find the root of it. Thank you in advance.

ping has nothing to do with ur PC or how slow it is.
Ping = the latenecy of the server, its the speed of ur internet.

quick things here.
#1. Make sure CS is allowed by your Firewall/Antivirus.. etc.
#2. make sure ur not downloading anythings (torrents.. music.. movies.. ) for some people having Mozilla/Opera/IE with 20 tabs... that'll make u lag abit.
#3. Or like in my case.. u dont have a sister and mom online always listening to music/youtube/uploading pix. lol

i have that problem too. my ping is always about over 100. its weird
