Did you install from CD's or did you download and install from Steam? Does this happen with every map/server, or only some? Right click your CS in your Steam "Games" list, and hit properties. Go to the Local Files tab, click "Verify Integrity of game cache", and see if that finds any errors. See if that helps at all. The last thing to do is re-install, but let's see if there's a way around it first. Let me know if that helps at all. |

Right click Counter-Strike on your Steam's "Games" window, then hit "Properties".
A window should pop up with a few tabs on top. Click the "Local Files" tab, and there should be an option there to "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". This probably wont work, but it's worth a try. I haven't found any solutions on forums. I hate telling people to re-install, I usually keep that as a last resort, but you may have to. When you do, don't back up anything ( Except your user configs if you want ), make sure maps and materials and everything is gone. After that, install the game through Steam, don't use your disk. This shouldn't take more than a couple hours, and you can still resume normal computer business while you do so. But again, try the verification first. |

I'll keep researching for you.. I haven't found any solutions online to this issue yet. You can also go to Welcome to Steam, create a support account and send them a request. They should get back to you within 12-36 hours.
