Default Horrible mic feedback, only happens with HL-based games?

This is in the Source AND GoldSrc engine, so please help me, I'll provide evidence that it is HL causing my problem and if you guys can fix it.

In Half-Life based games such as CS or DoD (and of course, Half Life) and Half-Life 2 based games such as CS Source or DoD Source (and Half-Life 2), I get HORRIBLE microphone feedback. I can't even speak because the sound it makes is terrible. Here is an example of my problem, in the form of a YouTube video:

YouTube - My microphone.

Any help on this? (by the way I'm sure it's HL because I tried it on two working microphones)

wow, you could make music from that anyway I bet you tried making changes to the settings, if you haven't try it. It could be the make or something.

you have to uncheck the box that says "boost microphone gain" that fixes it.

Valve probably wants to sound much! JUZ kidding
Anyway, check your microphone settings. Are you sure it happens only with HL based games?
