Where to download CS1.6 legally?

Ok. Here`s the thing. My friend told me that counter-strike had announced CS1.6 totally free and legally downloadable. But when tried to find it I didnt find anything. So does anybody know where to download it? Or can you even download it?

I think your friend is lying. You can get counter-strike 1.5 free and legal, but 1.6 is still being officially sold on steams website.

There isn't an official site to get 1.5 from. In the olden days before Steam, you install half-life then install counter-strike, which is a mod for half-life. Nowadays I'm guessing its still about the same thing. I know you can download half-life for free now, and counter-strike 1.5 patch is always been free to download. It should just be a case of locating both of those.

Honestly its only $10 to buy the game. You get automatic updates, I mean theres the hassle of dealing with steam, but in the end if you don't know where to locate the files or need a lot of support to get it running then the 10 bucks is worth not having to deal with the aggrivation

Hey man, u friend is probably talking about the Easi version of CS 1.6

U get dl it for free and legally but it's in Chinese :P

and by the way, it can only enter Chinese Servers (Non Steam)

And if u can read Chinese, but there's a patch though
