I see that you guys know a lot about CS 1.6 and I am wondering if you can help me with a very unique problem that I have had for a while now. I was unable to find an answer to it on the FAQ page. Well here it is....ever since I have hooked up my new wireless modem/router I have been unable to connect to any server. I have identified that the internet supply is the problem, because when I go to other people's houses and play on the computer I can play CS 1.6. I have read that sometimes wireless modems have prblems with the game. My setup is as follows: I am directly connect to the internet source with another computer in another room recieving the wireless connection to get internet. I can successfully connect to other online games without any trouble. Many places I have read to just plug my computer into the actual cable source and it works fine, but it already is plugged into the box recieving the cable internet. I have disabled all firewalls when trying to play and it doesnt help. I have run the steam connection test and it says ALL ports were reachable in order for me to play. This problem is so frusturating, and I am asking you to please give me some help and tips to fix it. Also, when I refresh my server list, I get about 10-15 servers that are under 100 ping-the others get into the 1000's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mdot |

hi, i've had that exact problem once, i had like 1 or 2 under 300 latency and others all over 1000 and 2000. the problem was i had too many programs running, you should just quit if your not using them, not the x on the corner but the rightclcik exit near the time on the bottom right corner, second of all look for an update for HLDS server. it updates and makes your server list stable, i hope that helped, tell me if it works
