Help...I am having a problem with counter strike 1.6.

I bought counter strike on steam yesterday and when I go to the menu and click find server this is where the problem happens. I select one of the servers then click connect. I successfully connect then after about 30 seconds of play, the game goes back to the main menu. It doesn't say kicked or connection lost or anything. I am using a Inspiron 1525 with 32 bit Vista Home Premium. I can play the game perfectly without any lag but its just this problem that bothers me. I have tried running it in Windows XP/SP2 compatibility mode but that doesn't work.I cant switch to XP right now because my CD with XP on it is in another state at my brothers house. I need a fix for this until i can get my CD. A detailed answer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That used to happen to me..all I did was restart my pc, and worked fine. hehe, I assume you've tried that. but I guess my post doesn't really help you. lol but yeah, I'm not really sure.

Steam + Vista = teh suck! Ya, Vista is the wrong op sys and Steams answer is... screw it, we have your money and we don't care. The sad part is it works on some machines and doesn't on others. You can try to lower your game performance settings to try to get the game to work but I doubt it's the game or the computer. Do you have anything else running?
