thanks mrbob i don't play online . i only play offline with bot.
quote:Video card DOES matter. A 32 mb card will not support CS:S/1.6 as well as a 128 mb and then a 256 and so on. But at the same time Ram speed and processor speed speed on the VC matters as well. sorry i don't understand :"Video card DOES matter". i have 256 mb card ONBOARD ,may i have to buy a vdeo card? i have set heapsize to 500 mb and cs use only 200 mb.when i set task manager and play with cs ( the task manger still appear when i play game, and i can see the cpu usage is 50%. please take a look at my computer and say what i have to buy: a processor ,a ram or an GPU video card ? i play the game at 32 bits and at the resolution of 1440x900 because it's my screen resolution, if i play in other resolution ,the player become short and fat :d |

I would buy ram as well as a video card. Onboard is ok for things like a home theater hook up for watching DVDs or a workstation PC where you run Word or Excel, not the best for high needs graphic games. Even though you say it can use 500mb chances are you will only need 256 on a video card. Anything bigger would be great. I use dual 512's on one machine and a single 512 on this one, both see 250-300fps constant, not even an expensive card, $75USD each!!
Also make sure the card has a built on fan, that helps so much. |

thank you and there is a problem
how to make the game support dual core?there is a tutor i 've read: "task manager displays 50% cpu usage that means one of the two of dual cpu cores in the cpu is at maximum usage. Since HL 1 games only use one of the cpu cores on your system, the other cpu core is not being used. You can force CS to use the other unused cpu core by first starting game then minimize the game (Alt+Tab) or (Windows Key) and turn on task manager (ctrl+alt+delete)Set Affinity of the game, uncheck CPU 0, leave CPU 1 checked." does this method makes a dual core 2.6 ghz cpu similar to the one 5.2 ghz? how we can make it automatic when starting the game (such as modify to the registry or adding the parameter )to set the affinity?(i am using windows xp services pack 2) because this time i don't have enough to buy video card so i would buy ram but i wonder: when i set heapsize to 500 mb ,700 mb... i see the game only use about 200 mb .how we can make the game use the maximum of the memory if needed? does this game support 2 rams? (now i have a 1 gb ram)i wonder if 2 rams (1gb and 2 gb) affect to the game as same as one 3gb ram when i set heapsize to 1.5 gb ,2 gb...? sorry for my bad english |
