No update?

I haven't played Counter-Strike for over 3 years. I still have the CD of Half-Life and CS I bought a long time ago and now I have my computer back I decided to install them and continue where I left off.

It was strange because it didn't ask for my CD Key. Anyhow, it says when I try to connect to Counter-Strike servers I need to update. I don't know where to go, here is a screen shot.

When I try to update HL it says there is no update available. If someone could help me, I'd appreciate it very much.

I've been reading through posts and noticed you need Steam to run CS now. I have NO idea what this is or how it works I've been away from the game for that long.

Any help would be nice. Thanks, and sorry for double posting.

this is correct. from CS 1.6 and up you need steam. it may just be better to buy a source pack from steam, so you know u have the updated versions of all the games.

Don't rebuy the games!

Your current versions will work perfectly well with them. As long as you have the CD key, you don't even need the CD any more because Steam will automatically find out if you own it and get it for you.

Thank you very much! I downloaded Steam and it updated itself and once I entered my 3 year old CD-Key it downloaded serveral games for me.

I also uninstalled my old Half-Life, etc; as it is no longer needed. How CS is run now is awesome, and quite easy to manage. Now I've got CS running... and I am a member to this forum, are there any servers for this forum?

Perhaps I could further join the community.
