I've googled and searched the internet about this issue for many houres, but in no thread it was solved. the problem seems to come along with a buggy steam update months ago and only happen on vista os.

since then every time i try to connect a server in COUNTER STRIKE 1.6 via Steam, it loads 3 bars while the screen "establishing network connection to server", then it stops and the game doesn't react anymore. the only way to get out is with taskmanager and shuting down cs.

to clear things out:
It has nothing to do with the firewall, Anti Vir programs or anything else that blockes ip/programs etc.
The game works fine before that steam update a while ago. I've no maleware or other kind of virus - installed sereval times steam new and formated my computer yesterday.

i've managed to play ONE time since then, but was only for once, dunno how it was possible.

Hope you have at least an idea what i can do.

So far everything I have come across has said it's a combo of three things, Steam, Vista and DirectX9.X and newer. If you can get it to run in DirectX7.X then you should be fine. Unlike most issues you can actually get Steam to load, most only get a black screen and then it crashes. Steam has yet to give a date for a fix.

dunno tryed 2 installs of different 7er versions - neither is working =/

i don't switch my os only for cs - i mean i could do it - but i'm used to vista now.
the problem is not in vista - steam works fine in the beginning, but then... it brokes.

there must be a solution :<
