Default Good cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate VS Good ping... wich is better?

I know that your cl_cmdrate should be as close as possible to your FPS average and that you should set cl_updaterate as high as possible without generating loss/choke.

Basically, higher these settings are, smoother the game runs (tell me if i'm wrong).

My hardware can take both cmdrate and updaterate in 100 at most servers, but i heard (and confirmed by test) that as you take these settings higher, you get worse ping.

That's why i'm here to ask you guys...

You preffer:

//cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate lower with better ping

OR

//cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate at max with some ping loss ????

(In my case, it's both settings at 100 with ping at 55-80 VS both settings at 20 with ping at 10-30)

imo make it like this if possible -
cl_cmdrate >61
cl_updaterate >61
rate >20000
fps_max >90
ping <40

In other words. your ping should not cross over the limit of 40, your frame rate should be over 90 and the rest as high as possible. That should work well.

My default settings:

cl_updaterate "20"
cl_cmdrate "30"

I ping 10-15 and fps is always above 200, most of the time fps is above 300, depends on the map and how many players. I would change this but I don't need to, I never lag, I have great fps, and loss/choke is always 0. Either I set up the server right or default settings on this machine are just what it needs. I haven't played on my new Vista machine much so I can't tell you how that one is.

Fps above 200?

Isn't it 100 max even if you set it as 99999999999999?

You get smooth play with updaterate 20 and cmdrate 30? Play nicely?

The max is what ever the server allows, we have a 500fps server, I believe. As far as game play, my game is as smooth as a babies ass. And no, I do not play nice, it is after all a shooting game!!
