Default I have a question...please help

I'm looking to purchase a laptop and I wanted to get it specifically geared toward gaming....CT! I want to make sure I have the proper tools for the game....what should I make sure I have in a computer and software? What's the difference between the 1.5 I played in college and Source?
Thanks,
VC

Aww come one Pirana, help the guy out,

Well oka, the old Counter Strike aka 1.5 has old graphics and a really old physics/game engine

Source games are run on the new more advanced Source Engine, with wayyy better graphics, physics, and other nice features...

here are the offcial specs from Steam it self:

Minimum: 1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP/ME/98, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: 2.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Steam - Counter-Strike: Source

And a great place to find all the info you need would be from Steam:
Welcome to Steam

Hope this helps
