Server Crashing / Hacked

1. So this has been happening for a while now my server clients.txt has gotten hacked somehow and the hacker removed all admins and added him self to it.

2. 1 Week ago my other server got hacked so hard that it crashed and burned and even you guys can not seem to fix it. Even tough i got a temp server for it i still think you guys should prevent this stuff from happening.

3. My 2 USA based server both crash at exactly the same time and are down for around 30 minutes meaning it is not a wrong server setup but something is seriously wrong with you guys hardware.

About the first thing i have been with many game server companies and the clients.txt being hacked has never ever happened to me until i got an Europe based server here.

I would really appreciate it to get some answers for these mess ups...

Also the Hacker for my Europe server his ip is 75.4.158.186:52656 and this guy 173.19.113.193

That happened to me once.

Here's what you do:

1- Change your rcon password.
2- Check on server.cfg and make sure that sv_cheats are 0. It MUST be 0 or you will continue to get hacked. That's how I got hacked in the first place. Never ever ever ever ever ever make sv_cheats 1.
3- Edit the clients.txt in your own computer, make it read only and rar it (after making it read-only) then upload it as a .rar (using the Control Panel provided by Counter-Strike.com) and then once it's put into place, you should see clients.rar file. Unrar it from your Control Panel (there's an option for it) and restart your server.

Regarding the hacker's IP's, all you can do is ban him. When you ban him, do not include the "52656" part.

Please let us know how that works out for you. If you follow the instructions I gave, you should not have any problems because your clients.txt will be read-only. HOWEVER, you will have to do process #3 (edit it on your computer, rar, upload then unrar within the CPanel) every time you need to add an admin. The way to check if it worked is, try to edit your clients.txt from within the CPanel. If you can't edit it, you will have succeeded. If you can edit it, it means you did not do it correctly.

Yes, the process is tedious but it will get you out of this problem and add a lot of protection.

And about the server crashing and the server get even you guys cant seem to fix?

The crashing was probably due to settings changed by the hacker. There's no way for them to prevent that from happening. CS.com provides its customers FULL access to their server so they are free to change any settings (such as sv_cheats) which can allow a hacker to get into their server. If you are still experiencing problems after you do as I suggested, my next suggestion would be for you to save important files (such as maps folder, MOTD, etc) onto your computer, do a full re-install of the server and put everything back. It should only take you about 10 mins to do.

Their only responsibility is to host the server for you. What you do with it has nothing to do with them.

Yea i read all the logs (pain in the *ss) and one of the first things they do is sv_cheats 1 but they do it all ingame because the nextmap the default settings reload they dont have like ftp access i also saw they used HLSW (on the Europe Server that is) on The USA server all files are deleted and reinstall doesn't work either the support guys tried to fix it but cant seem to fix it either meaning its the hosting company that failed here by not protecting there servers enough.

But since you are not from support i guess you dont know why both my usa servers die at the same time then revive at the same time?

Well, once they give themselves admin (since your clients.txt wasn't read-only), they can do whatever they want with the settings (including change sv_cheats). The hosting companies cannot possibly protect your server from in-game hackers. Again, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure all the required things are put into place (such as making clients.txt read-only).

When it comes to servers "dying", if both servers are on the same machine, they are probably just doing an every-day rebooting of the machine (to make sure the resources are being used correctly and to provide the best possible quality).

Regarding the re-installing abilities, have you considered moving your servers to another machine? That should fix the problem.
