Re: Original Star Trek
Awwww the Tribbles. The DS9 episode that mixed footage from the original episode was superb. Cleverly done.
As for my favourite series, I don't mind admitting that I loved them all, even the last one, and have seen every film. It was a good idea though to stop when they did, as it did need a rest.
There are a few things being done though, like for example the "Star Trek: New Voyages" series, which despite being done by fans, has some good special effects, and they are currently filming a new episode starring Walter Koenig, Aka Chekov.
The same people are also involved in some other Star Trek stuff, but this particular one is being Directed by Tim Russ (Tuvok in Voyager) and stars Mr Koenig too, Nichelle Nicholls (Uhura), and a few other people from various incarnations of Star Trek. All this is only available via the Internet - for free - and all done for the love of it, and no backing from Paramount whatsoever.
The only new "Real" Star Trek on the Horizon is the the 11th Film, which is due to appear in 2008, and is being done by the man behind Lost, JJ Abrams.
If I didn't have new Stargate SG-1 episodes to watch instead, I would have to go cold turkey.
